If every there was some in your corner in life, it is God. It is He who makes the earth rotate, the stars twinkle and the sun to shine. It is He who makes you and knows who you are down to the numbers of hairs on your head. He alone is our personal hope and only He can do for us what we need and what we cannot do or ourselves. Ultimately, there is nothing we can do in our lives because it is God who brings true happiness. It is God who makes us wealthy. It is God who makes us wise. There are numerous times in the Holy Scripture who tells us that God goes before us in our lives. So, He is our hope, our provider, our mainstay and more- our all!

Knowing God’s will for our lives can be a tricky thing until we come to the realization that it is God who, by His will mandates our lives. It must be noted that we have a free will and as a result, can make decisions to agree with God’s will or we can choose to go completely contrary to His desire for our lives. When we understand though, that He has an actual plan for us individually and that as we read His Word, the Bible and follow His precepts, our lives develop in His will. The opposite occurs as well. We can use our free will to do “our thing” thereby skipping His Will.  If we do not read His Word, the Bible and we go on our own, we miss the plans He had for us and choose our own life’s path. Since He wants our best, we lose out on the highest form of blessing possible.

We all go through difficult times and each of us have opportunity to enjoy the sunshine but as the scripture so clearly explains, “it rains on the just and the unjust”. So, with that, there are events in our lives that God offers to all; both good and bad. He offers the wonderful sunshine, the cool mist of rain, the beautiful shores of the ocean, and the brilliant mind of a person in thought. He’s given gifts to each of those who follow Him and in those gifts we are able to live our our lives and affect others making a difference. Each of of us can live in God’s Word and in His will.

It is true that each of us have a wonderful life one day and it seems as if the world is caving in on us on other days. When we have storms, it is obvious to note that often, we created the storm in which we are living. In other words, because we did this, something happened to cause a particular thing to occur and we reap the consequence or result of that act.

In God’s will, things may happen in our lives that God may allow but in the end, He makes it for our good.

To know God’s will here are a few examples for detecting God’s Spirit at hand:

1.  Read the scripture every single day. While reading God’s Word, the Bible, apply the verses to yourself and to your situation. If you don’t know where to begin start in the book of 1 John or the Psalms or Proverbs. You may want to get yourself a daily devotional or keep a journal of your readings.
2.  Before and while reading God’s Word, ask the Creator to make Himself known to you. Pray to God. Call His name out. Do all you can do in drawing nigh to God because the scripture is clear in that area- “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you”.

3.  Ask God for His understanding and lean towards simply believing God at His Word.  Realize the the Holy Spirit is like the wind. You can hear and feel the wind but cannot see it. Thus, as we follow God’s will, we must allow God to speak to our hearts and while we do not see Him, we can feel His presence and witness the fruit from Him from the results around us.

4.  Do not waiver. Simply , read God’s Word, believe what He’s saying in the scripture and then move about your life knowing that God has a plan for you. As you live out this plan, pay careful attention at the doors and windows that will open up on your behalf. As you stay close to God, you will identify doors in which to open or close and windows to go through or wait in the hallway.

Lay aside all scepticism. Have do doubt. Just believe God. He can be trusted and when we believe Him, He can and will take our lives to a level that we never even knew existed. Why? He created us. He made us. He has a plan for each of us individually.
