So what is it that makes the world go round? What or who is “that”?
My sister is a whiz at deciphering money exchanges in her mind. When we shop together, she can figure out the 45% or 70% off of a sale item almost on the spot. I’m over there reaching for my phone calculator when she spits out the final cost including taxes. Truly, I look up in surprise. Every time!
My brother is a master at musical scale reading. He does 2/4 and 4/4 movements, and all of the other beats in time and can add treble, bass, and all of the rest. In fact, I may not be explaining that correctly because it’s so confusing to me! He plays several stringed instruments and simply has a knack for music. He and his wife played at my daughter’s wedding. They also have played at the White House so… Wow on that!
A niece of mine by marriage is simply brilliant. She thinks “outside” of the box and when we are together in the same room, I always listen carefully to what she says because it’s really interesting stuff and really “Einsteinish”( Is that even a word?). I think she graduated with honors. In my view, she is one smart gal and probably the smartest person in the room at most given moments.
One of my best friends from high school is a comedian. Oh, she’s never been on broadway but she does stand up every day with her friends, family and she’s of late carried over to Facebook. She’s just plain funny and everyone knows this of her. LOL!
Another friend from my school days is one of the sweetest people you’d ever want to meet. She’s positive, light-hearted and always thinks the best of someone. She’s truly one that people say, “Oh, she’s lovely inside and out”. And she is. She’s a “Mellie” (Melanie of Gone With the Wind) of our day; kind, giving and positive.
One friend of a family that I know is one of the meanest people I’ve ever met. ( I’ll never tell who I’m speaking of so don’t ask) In all honesty, I’ve never met anyone meaner. What she did for others in my way of thinking, was to allow the goodness in kind-hearted people to shine in her presence, because only one of God could love her she was so ornery. May she rest in peace.
When I think of those who are neat, organized and have it together and those who are a total mess and wreck and so need those of order, I think of the phrase… “That’s what makes the world go round”.
We’ve all met the incredibly neat and organized, the conscientious and detailed , the slow and tedious , the messy and unkempt and the list goes on but it is certainly true, “that’s what makes the world go round.”
It takes the doctor to help the MS patient. The therapist is needed to help one with no leg. The tenderhearted is wanted to sit for hours with the patient. The organized is needed to rescue the messy.
Sometimes, I see others giving a person a hard time for not settling down long enough, or for not being more compassionate or for not doing this or that but what I see is…it takes all kinds. Not everyone can sit still in a room for hours and if everyone did that, who would do the repairs or cook the food or schedule life’s events? If everyone played an instrument, who would design computers, create beautiful art or preach the Gospel to the masses?
While each of us can and should take stock in who we are, and improve in our own personal habits, we too should “be who we are” for as someone so rightly put… “Don’t try to be like another person because that person is already taken”. Be yourself and most importantly, be who God intended you to be and for what purpose you were put here on this earth because ” YOU”RE what makes the world go round!”
