All of my pets middle names are the same.  If the animal is a girl, her middle name is Nannette.  If the animal is a boy, the middle name is Vaughan.  Nannette is my middle name.  Vaughan is my maiden name.  My pets do not need to wonder if they are loved and if they are important, they are named a family name giving them prominence and worth.

For example, I have 1 rooster and 4 hens.  Here are their names:

  • Buster Vaughan
  • Elsa Nannette
  • Olivia Nannette
  • Juliette Nannette
  • Queeny Nannette ( Which truly may be a Quinten and may end up Quinten Vaughan)

Of course,  there is my dachshund, Sophie Nannette and my birds, Buddy Vaughan and Sunni Nannette. Both were given to me. Sunni was already named and was thought to be a boy(Sonny) but ended up laying eggs thus the first and middle name changed from Sonny Vaughan to  Sunni Nannette.  She’s quite the beauty being a parrot; orange and green.

This week, I found my hen house had a rat problem.  I did NOT name the rat but instead went promptly to the pet store to find out what to do about the problem of rats for the safety of my flock. I am working on that now so, I don’t name every breathing animal around including snakes. No!

What do you name your pets? Let’s talk about it on FB or Twitter!  Join in the discussion

Not to confuse you but my nick name is “Josie”.
