Who would believe that we ( my daughter and me) would have 47 chickens. Let me clarify before I go on. My daughter says “they are not my chickens” but as many of you know, I had some surgery in early July which put me down for at least a couple of weeks before the surgery and then weeks after the surgery. As a result, Kristie began taking care of the chickens, Calvin, Knight and Buster, the Roosters. I had no contact with the birds for many weeks due to the recovery period and the chickens really took to Kristie. These chickens effectively became “hers”. Ha!
Anyhow…. in the past few days, I have felt much better and have been able to go out and do a little with them. I might pick up their tins or get the tops for their feeders or simple acts such as that. Kristie though, is really their keeper and they look to her.
This afternoon we both went out together and I noticed right off, their eyes were on her and not on me. The “black beauties” had their whole body positioned to her.
The Bible confirms this behavior. “To have a friend, you must be a friend”. Kristie has truly been their friend over these weeks and now turning into months. She in fact has 43 hens and 3 roosters! I’m so thankful for her loving them so that they love her back!
