Having a baby is a huge achievement but in today’s society once you’ve given birth you have no excuse to look pregnant. The world pays no mind to the fact you just carried another human in your body. Who cares that you are barley getting any sleep and nursing and caring for a baby constantly. Finding that body you once had is a must but it is harder to achieve than you might think.

Where did that body go you ask? Do not fear ladies, it can be recovered. Sure, it’s been a hot minute since you could reach your toes or see you knees but once giving birth, things change. The first few months of nursing and taking care of your precious joy, you feel the pounds melting off. Finally months later you get invited out and swap the yoga pants for jeans. They slip on easily so-you-think, until you fasten that top jean button. “Gasp”, you say!  Your belly hangs over like a flat tire and all your long nursing days seems to not have been as effective as  promised.

It’s time to get back in shape. I am not talking about starving yourself. I am talking about getting in the gym or just getting your heart rate up for 45 minutes. When I say this, I am not talking about walking for an hour. I am talking about putting in some effort and working up a serious sweat. Baby or no baby, getting is shape is a must without the excuses. I understand you have tons of laundry, don’t we all. Yes, dinner needs to be cooked, so meal planning must be under way. Oh and I know your little one dislikes the gyms childcare or playing on there own but, they will adapt with a little time, trust me! The main thing to remember if your going to haul your booty to the gym or place 45 minutes aside for a workout make it worth your while. Make it about you and no one else.  If you can help you. You can help the family.

Finding anything to lure you away from that sweetie-piece-of-meaty is hard but getting back your confidence is crucial. Finding that me time will not come easy but will be so rewarding. What better way to spend your away time than on yourself. You are the person who gives your whole heart to another everyday. It is important you remember you. That beautiful bump you carried around for close to 40 weeks in gone. It is time to act like it! Perfection is not what we have to go for but self confidence and love for yourself is a must. Do you for a change.

Summer will be here before you know it, and you are going to want to have peace putting on that two-piece. Fall will be here and you’ll want to carry those jackets well. Winter will be around the corner and you’ll wear layers. Spring will bring summer and you’ll want to go to beach it. So, plan accordingly.

Make sure to eat healthy. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN! Make sure to eat baked chicken, yogurt, and try a few protein shakes. Next, it’s all about the workout: If you can’t make it to the gym for the Shape-Up workout here are a few do anywhere workout techniques.

  1. Start with maximum capacity run for 15 minutes
  2. Push Up: this is an oldie but goodie – 40 seconds on 20 seconds off (4 rounds)
  3. Squat jumps: This works on your total body movement: go low to get the bang for your buck
  4. Front plank: 1 minute on 30 second rest (4 rounds)
  5. Side planks: 30 seconds on 30 seconds rest (3 rounds each side)
  6. End with another maximum capacity run for 15 minute

The key here is HIGH-INTENSITY and consistency. Go for it.
