A Flogging I Won’t Soon Forget!

flogging

I clearly looked into the eyes of one who would do me harm today.

Juliette, my Wyandotte hen was discombobulated because I had moved her laying pen. I could tell she was ready to lay because she was searching in various areas. She didn’t know where to go for laying eggs, so I went into the pen to catch her and put her inside the new laying straw.

“Not so fast” indicated Buster, my huge roo!

When Juliette was found pecking in the corner of the pen, I got on my knees to reach for her and just before I reached gently to pin her and before I could think, Buster and I were eye to eye! It scared the fool out of me and I stood but not before getting a spurring on my left leg and a flogging I won’t soon forget!

Quickly, I reached for my little red rake, which he definitely respects and I was safe again. I know that Buster was simply protecting his girls but I was just trying to right a wrong!

Later, I thought about our enemy, the devil who is all about protecting his “world system” and when we, as Christians try to right wrongs, even in our personal lives,  he attacks and we find our world in danger.  He does not want us to right this wrong.  He does not want us to change his situation. He is not interested in our success but in his efforts.  The Bible is clear about his intentions:  The devil was a “liar” from the beginning and “no truth is in him”.  Also, the devil comes to “kill, steal and destroy”.  Until we uphold God’s Word of which even the devil has to respect because of it’s power, we’re in trouble. So, we must hold up the Word of God, the Bible.

We’re living in a dangerous world today. At every turn there are wrongs that we see and we want to right them. Looking back, what I should have done was get the small rake and be aware of his presence.

As we move forward in this world, we must do the same. We must be covered with God’s Word in our hearts and lives and know God’s desire in the areas in which we work and too, we should be aware that the devil is right there wanting to wreak havoc. He has no power when we uphold God’s Word, the Bible.

We can trust God to protect us. We can believe His Word to be the Truth to keep us safe and to help us right the wrongs in our lives and world.  Let us hold up the Bible which is Truth against the enemy.
