Wow! Our Ramey, our first child, just turned two on the 15th. It’s hard to believe that he’s already reached this milestone. The baby that we held in our arms, so tiny we felt like we could break him by just breathing too hard is two now. We still see him so small until he’s picked him up and his legs dangle passed our knees.
It’s such a joy to watch him develop. Learning to speak, pretending to “read”, brushing his own teeth, playing t-ball and running the bases (invisible of course), to watch him light up and call out our names when we pick him up from children church each Sunday. Each milestone and new adventure is so fun.
It’s a little sad to see our little guy grow up. With each new day his independence is growing and he’s moving closer and closer to being an adult. That is said because each day he’s learning to do things on his own and sometimes refuses our assistance. He’s growing up! Awe!
Too often, I still can hardly believe God gave Daniel and me with such a precious gift. To think we have something to take care that depends on us for every little thing.
Two years ago we returned home from the hospital with the responsibility of another human’s life. He would need shelter, food, comfort, support, love and so much more. We never in a million years knew it would feel like this. The joy has overflowed over and over again. We can see he’s growing more independent each day but he will always be our first born baby.
Already we have had such fun reminiscing the last few days leading up to his birthday. It has seemed so long ago when we first laid eyes on Ramey. Then again it feel like just a few weeks have passed.
When he was born he weight 8 pounds 2 ounces. He had brown eyes and light brown hair. We had never seen little fingers and toes that precious. He looked just like a baby doll to us.
Being first time parents every day has been a learning experience. We have received lots of advice over the past few years. Our family and friends have supported us and helped along the way.
People always say “don’t blink” and that could be more true than we ever imagined for already he’s two. Where did the two years go? As we move into the two’s we still pray the same prayer we did when Ramey was first born.
“Help Daniel and me as a parents, Lord, with our weaknesses and imperfections. Give us strength and Godly wisdom to raise this child after your Holy Word. Please supply what we lack. Keep our child walking on the path that leads to eternal life. Help him to overcome the temptations in this world and the sin that would so easily entangle him”
Ah! He’s already 2 years and a day!
