Working on Both Loves!

For so many of us, motherhood is what we do while working on that perfect marriage. There are so many reasons we spend so much time tending to our adorable children and rightfully so. They need our care and those needs are a must. They are current. They are necessary.  But, marriage counselors all over remind wives that continually spoiling the little one while putting spouses on the back burner is a huge NO!

But, have no fear if you have unknowingly placed him back there… Today is the day to refocus and move onto a fresh start. Today would be a good day to spoil your husband first and of course take care of the cares of your child or children as needed.  Our children are there forever. It has been said the following about time frames:

From birth to 18 years old we enjoy 6,570 days.

If married for 50 years that is 18,250 days.

Of course, our children are important and a huge part of our lives and as we  love them, we must keep the love lights of our husband growing as well.  So, go ahead, spoil your husband and give your children an example of what a great marriage looks like.  Take the time to learn your husband’s love language. (For more about The Five Love Languages read the book by Gary Chapman).   When spoiling your spouse you will reap the rewards which is a win-win. Love your husband for heaven’s sake!

The truth of the matter is, we are to train our children for their future. It is about sending them off into this world to start their own lives. I know when my son gets older and marries, We will want to be proud of the son we raised and of the marriage we built. As Daniel and I navigate through the rearing of our child,  we do not want to loose sight of each other in the process.

Finding special time to bond can be tough. During the summer, we took our first destination vaca as a couple.   It was difficult leaving our little one for those couple of days but we knew the importance of it and followed through.  Here is a picture of our very 1st night out without him.  This was well needed and we truly enjoyed it.

It is a struggle we are all face trying to take care of life as it comes to us and build our relationship too.  I am not sure it gets any easier but necessary.   Booking that one nighter in a bed-and-breakfast  and think about getting away from those hotel rooms with the TV’s in them.   Seek out  meaningful and romantic vacations just focusing on each other. It will be worth the time taken.  Take the time to plan your adventures and make the most of every moment.  Have fun ya’ll!
