U. S. Constitution Celebrates 225th Birthday!
On September 17, 1787 the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, adopted the Constitution of the United States of America. In the presence of James Madison, George Washington and others, Benjamin Franklin approved the final draft which eventually became a framework of this Republic of the United States.
The significance of the Constitution is monumental. It holds that we are each endowed by our Creator and that each person is an individual with rights. The Constitution allows for the individual to have a voice and share in the opinions of governing. In terms of power, the framers of the Constitution wanted a balance of power so that each group could not out-strengthen another but instead balance the opinion. With that came the balance of powers between high government officials such as the Executive Branch (President), the Judicial Branch (Supreme Court) and the Legislative Branch (Congress). This in itself created a check and balance system for our nation. There is truly no other nation like America in the world.
The Constitution’s framers wanted limited government, and individual rights such that the power of the nation would be with the people.
Today we celebrate the birthday of a document that frees our nation. It is important for each of us to defend and preserve the basic principles set forth in the Constitution of the United States and may God Bless America.
