Just like any boy going to school for the first day, Prince George looked excited to look around and see new sights. It was probably a stressful day for his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge because just like any parent sending a child into a crowd of strangers there is worry as to how he might respond. I’m sure the royal couple felt the same and perhaps even more angst than those who do not have a spotlight on every move taken.
Prince George was born July 22, 2013 to the Royal couple The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. William, Prince George’s father is 3rd in line to the throne of England. I read some months ago that his family was considering having him introduced to school in the new year and here we are. He’s not only enrolled but has spent his first day with the other children and his new teachers.
Wearing a navy blue fleece lined jacket and a blue back pack, the prince was ready for his day having his photograph taken in front of a child-filled mural at the school.
According to reports, his school, Westacre Montessori School, in Norfolk, England is one where children use discovery to develop in education using independence, and limited freedom. In Montessori classrooms ages are mixed and children have choice to learn using uninterrupted work times of study. They are given concepts for learning and then work with various materials without direct instruction for the most part. While there are trained Montessori instructors, the theme of this type of learning is to allow the student the materials to grow and learn by discovery.
It will be fun keeping up with the royal family and their take on education. Hey, I have my own royal grandson and I’ll be comparing notes!
