Style and You

We’re all so different. I met a couple just yesterday. They were in their senior years but I could tell their style right away. The eighty-five year old man was easy, comfortable and laid back. His top was a pull-over sweat shirt and loose pants. His shoes were well-worn tennis type. He did not seem to care in the least about his appearance.

His wife of some sixty years was what my mama would call “high dolla’”, rich in style and a much in order type. She wore a high-necked long sleeve top with a matching sweater and slacks. Her accessories matched every detail of her outfit from earrings to her purse. Her finger nails were painted and her lip stick matched that color. She was a living doll so-to-speak!

Even in their sharing, he was easy and calm and she was strict and ordered. Neither is right or wrong. It’s who we are. And, they ( don’t really know who “they” are) say that not only does our upbringing set our course of behavior but so does our position in the family in terms of birth order and of course our gender.

It does not matter who we are but most definitely, how we approach the world will indeed open or shut doors so as a business person it is important to keep that in mind especially if you tend to be the laid back person.

There is nothing wrong with down playing dress and being comfortable but if you’re off to make a difference, it will indeed matter that you’re style is set to make a good impression. First impressions are lasting.
