So This is What Being a Parent Feels Like: Limited knowledge of current affairs, A Netflix account which suggests only kid’s shows, Catching myself smiling while folding clothes (those tiny pants are so adorable). And then the fact that texting has become my only source of communication (for various reasons, folks!) And what being a parent feels like really hits home when I realize that I am becoming just like my own parents. Did I just say that?
Other tell tale signs of feeling like a parent are that Amazon.com has replaced the mall, YouTube has replaced gym membership and date night is between the hours of 9-10pm.
So this is what being a parent feels like!
I must admit, I never thought any of that would sound appealing to me but it sounds like heaven. Yes, many apologies go out to friends and family members who had children before me. Please forgive me for I had no idea the happiness, struggle and sacrifices! The full-time parenting position is unreal but also super fulfilling. Never did I think that baking, laundry, baby bubble baths, rubber ducky games, toddler time, the pumpkin patch, or playgrounds could be so much fun.
My outlook on life is much different and so is my Christmas list. This year, I am asking for a AAA Membership, silicone baking mats and house slippers. If that doesn’t scream mom, I don’t know what does. Life has definitely changed. Instead of meandering around the mall I’m searching for a store that has the shopping carts with a steering wheel attached. You know the one that has a working safety belt so my child can’t weasel out. lol!
I must admit, I’ve never laughed so hard and loved so deeply in my entire life. This is a life worth living, Daniel and Ramey!
