Riding Stand By

Our Chicks Down South-Blogher Conference began today in The Big Apple! Our flight was on Jet Blue and was scheduled for a late flight into the JFK airport. We scheduled it that way to meet the needs of the home front but Wednesday, we realized that since everything had been taken care of in terms of family and work needs, we could go earlier to New York City.

So, we rethought it all and called to see the possibilities of riding “stand by”. We explained to the lady on the line that we didn’t want to pay more and heard that a “stand by” flight might be possible. She told us to be at the airport at least an hour and a half before the intended flight and the agents at the window would help us determine if a “stand by” would work.

Well, we got on that morning flight which put us into New York City- Manhattan by lunch and celebrated the event with New York Pizza! ! Wahoo! We were so excited!

The funny of it all was that after getting the flight, we went to get a bite to eat and over the intercom, we heard our names- we were about to lose our flight! Yes, we were the last to board!
