Really. God’s creation is awesome.
Every spring, the blue birds fly to and from the cedar box nest outside of our large paned kitchen window. I had heard that I would indeed have blue birds if I set a nest high and used a cedar box and certainly, the blue bird family came shortly after it was placed outside by the pond.
Almost immediately, a family of birds began to make residence in the new bird house purchased at the local hardware store. Daily both the male and female brought twigs and small housing items to make a comfy home for themselves and in a matter of weeks, the wife was preparing for their up and coming family. The male seemed to continue to bring leaves, twigs and other matter for comfort.
By early spring, I could hear babies chirping and watch both male and female bring worms and other insects to the nest for feeding. Sometimes both mother and father would be taking turns going inside and outside of the birdhouse holed door.
One of the funniest things about blue birds is that they like to see themselves in a mirror. My daughter was at the house and I told her that soon her car would have bird droppings by the window. She laughed but within in a short period of time, her car needed a bath for all of the bird deposits under the window. When watching, the bird flies to the window, sits on the top of it then flies in front of the window fluttering returning to the top again and flies off. It is a unique pattern that the birds do daily therefore the car is in need of a bath often.
Every day when we walk out of the house, the parents of the babies fly out in look out mode. Each take turns sitting on top of the nesting box and watching for the safety of the family. It’s incredible to see. God is awesome. He is majestic.
Spring is over, the summer has lasted long and hot and the babies have been gone from the nest for at least 2 weeks so today I cleaned out the nest. It will be clean and ready for next years blue bird family. I can’t wait for spring to come again.
Being a believer, I see this whole life cycle as awesome and that of a magnificent creator’s doing.
