Praying For People We Don’t Even Know

Today at church, the Pastor asked for members and guests to take hold of the pew in front of them. The congregation was standing and hands across the auditorium gripped the wooden backs of the pews.

Many times, we hear, “Hold hands” or “Turn to the person on your right or left” but today, we were asked to take hold of a piece of wood and then we were reminded that in the coming days, people far and wide would be in our church to participate in the week long Pastors’ Conference.  We’ve had as many as 6,000 guests registered.  If we had that many come this year, that would mean that 6,000 souls were requested for in order that God would do a mighty work.

This is our Churches’ 29th conference. I’ve been there for at least 21 of those gatherings and what an event it has been all of these years. Some of the greatest preaches of all time have spoken, The Reverend Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, Fred Luter, Adrian Rodgers, Dr. Homer Lindsay, and the list goes on and on including the Pastors from our own fellowship.

The music heard has been some of the finest sounds in all of the world. This is the truth.  Our choir and orchestra has been as majestic as any choir across the Nation with their voices and instruments singing praises to the God of the Universe.

Those leading the music over the years, and putting together the scores and line up have been as grand as any on a stage. And as with any great performance, the Grand Finale has been one not to miss!

Pastors have had the finest to hear, participate and gain from in the way of Biblical teaching. The event this year is titled “Pulpit To The Nations” and will center around pastors expanding their reach to the Nations of the world.

Our efforts today, to pray for those who would sit in those seats was a most important task. We do not know who will fill those cushions but God knows and as we asked Him to bless their lives, we expect that He will for we believe His Word to be true.

What concern do you have in your life, dear friend? Ask God, who neither slumbers nor sleeps to answer your prayer. God cares for us. Our wishes and desires are important to Him. We must remember, however that He will not agree to our sinful requests and He has a “plan” for us so as we ask Him to meet our needs, we must pay careful attention to seek His leading.  Too, we must know Him.   Do you truly know Him?  If not, begin there first.  Ask Jesus to come into your heart and life and make you new.  He will do that if you ask and nothing in your life will be the same.  Then, ask what you will in His name and watch Him work!

Just as God will honor our requests to work in the lives of those attending this conference, God will work in your life to bring about His will and work in your heart and life.

God’s Word is clear about prayer:

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Phil 4:6

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them]. Mark 11:24

Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  1 John 5:14

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:19
