Today is Palm Sunday. This is a special day in the life of Jesus. He made a triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This day falls on the Sunday before Easter. Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem is an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels. Every year the St. John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida depicts this  processional in downtown.  It’s a sight to see and really makes this season special.

In Mark 8:29, Jesus asked Peter, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah”.

Jesus is not just a good man. He’s not a mythical figure. He isn’t simply a man who went about making a difference, although he changed the course of the world.  Jesus is God. He’s the Savior. He’s the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the End.

“We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. King James … And whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”1 John 4:4.

Second Thessalonians 1:7-9 says, “The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.”

C.S. Lewis observed, “You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet

and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to” (Mere Christianity [Macmillan, 1952], pp. 40-41).

Who do you say that He is?

Happy Palm Sunday.
