We’re so happy you have decided to join us on our “One Year Blog Challenge”. You need several things to get started:
Computer
Date your beginning blog
Determination
Ideas
Journal/Pen
Name
Computer and work space– Set up your area for computing. Make it cozy and easy to access. I have chickens and they actually “nest” when they prepare to work.(Lay eggs). Take Juliette for example. She swiches her back feathers, moves around the straw and then sits. On the other hand, Olivia(Livvy), sits and then swiches and then pecks around the nest moving twigs from one place to another until she’s happy it’s as she wants it. So YOU must nest your area so you’re satisfied it’s ready for blogging. We all do it differently but does it work for YOU? That’s the question.
Date Your Blog- If you begin your blog today, then date it so you have your starting point listed. We’re blogging for ONE YEAR.
Determination-Be thinking about your blog focus.. What will you write about? Be double dog sure that you write what’s in your heart or you won’t make it a month. To be successful in blogging, you must write about what you’re passionate about so be thinking. Of course, you can have a site about “family” or “home” or “sports” which can break into smaller categories so consider how you wish to go forward.
Ideas-Write down your ideas and thoughts and FOCUS on one topic whether it be broad or specific. When you get brainstorm thoughts, list them in your take journal.
2 Journals Needed-Get a journal for keeping up with your events, passwords and the like and get a “take journal” for on-the-go thoughts. I know this is a lot but when you’re out and about, waiting for your husband to finalize the tractor deal or sign the papers on the new car or waiting for your daughter or son’s ballet lessons or ball game practice, you’ll need a “take journal” to list your thoughts. The home journal stays by your computer, never to move from that area as it has all of your passwords and important technical info. This journal will be very important as time moves along. Keep it with your computer area and blogging space. Put dates on every entry and be sure to write down URLs , user names and passwords. Spiral notebooks are best as they fold easily and take up less space.
Name Your Blog– Before opening up a website, have a name already settled for your blog. You may consider having a couple in case your name is already taken by someone else. Consider a short name for your blog and the best will be a .com, not a .net or .org or.me, etc. Short is very important and think of a name that people can spell easily. You domain name will be of great importance going forward so give it much thought. (A domain name is the URL name . For example… www.chicksdownsouth.com).
There is so much more but for this week, please focus on these things. When you’re ready go on to Mission # 2. Take it easy. No need to stress yourself. Enjoy this new journey. It’s going to be so fulfilling!
