mission 2

Challenge # 1 Done-Okay, you have completed Challenge # 1  so you have your computer set up, you’ve made the commitment, have ideas, secured 2 journals, have a blog name and have dated the day your new blogging venture began.  Now you’re ready for Challenge # 2.

Challenge #2 is to determine what you will do with your server OR free site.  If you’re going to go with a free site, you must determine which one.  Will you choose Blogger.com, Wix.com, WordPress.com or some other free offering?

Blogger.com is owned by the most powerful search engine in the world, Google.  It is a FREE blog service and you can use it to “monitize” your site to make money.

Wix.com is a free site. You can make money on Wix.com too if you add your own advertising.

WordPress.com is a powerful and probably one of the most widely used website formats on the internet. You can make money adding your own advertising plans and you can change the look and feel of your site often. WordPress is available on the free site AND/or on the server site.   I use WordPress with my own server.

OR

Total Control-You may want your own server with space where you can totally control your own website.  This would be with a “host” like:

Bluehost- One of the largest and most trusted web host services.

Hostgator- Hostgator offers packages from under $4. a month to owning your own private server in the hundreds a month.  I use Hostgator.  Costs are reasonable and service is good.

So, choose now which you will do and open your blog. If you choose Blogger.com, go to http://www.blogger.com and open up a free account. If you choose http://www.wordpress.com, go there and open a free account.  If you choose to have your own server go to the host you choose and open an account.  Owning your own server will cost something like $4. a month so have your CC ready to pay for a month or a year. I use Hostgator and pay by the year.

When you’ve done the above you’re ready to go on to step # 3.
