“KyleePup” turned 61 today. Yes, in dog years of course. This glamorous but feisty 6 pound Yorkshire Terrier has filled my life with so many sweet moments. Nine inches tall, this little lady has shown me who is the boss. She is small in size but boy does she ever have personality. Her devotion to me is clear and has always made me feel so special.
Kylee was given to me as a birthday gift. Her Yorkie elegance was chosen by me but never did I imagine in a million years the strong hold this pet could have on my heart. Quite full of herself as a pup, she was the talk of Jacksonville Beach in her early years. All of the neighbors knew about Kylee.
Over the years I dressed her and kept her in full fashion including color- coordinating her top knot. She has always shown off her big-dog attitude, all the while in that small body. She has definitely ruled the roost, so to speak, or I might say was “top dog!”
We went from living at the beach, on 2nd street to living on 3 acres in the woods. Our lives together have changed tremendously over these many years. KyleePup has shown her undying loyalty again and again. The first 5 years of her life we spent so many days laying on the beach with sun in our hair and not a care in the world. She was never a crate dog, which so many recommend when training. She followed through well and became the dog every owner would want. KyleePup received her first down pillow within weeks of her arrival. No limits were set for her as we did things together but she definitely has taken charge.
Almost 3 years ago I married. Sharing my everyday life with someone else, I wondered how she would react but she transitioned well. Her sassiness is such a curb appeal and DanielBoy reacted just as KyleePup hoped. He fell in love with her right away.
They say Yorkies are not suited for families, but I have not experienced that. Fifteen months ago I gave birth to a little boy. We were sure to take the extra steps before bring home the new member of the family. We brought a blanket to the hospital and wrapped Precious-One in it. We then brought it home and left it on the couch for Kylee to smell. Upon arrival introducing the two was a breeze. It did take a little adjusting for everyone but it has been smooth sailing since.
These days Kylee retreats in a Moses basket. She has several soft blankets that are fluffed on the reg. She no longer wears clothing or a top knot. Her feistiness has calmed and she is more of a cuddler in her older age. She enjoys exploring the country on our 3 acres. There is not much interaction between Precious-One and Kylee but they do have staring contests from time to time. Kyle is loved like no other and no dog will ever take her place. This May will be her 11th trip to the Florida Keys – She can’t wait!
Life is good and having a husband, pupping and baby is such a joy. Do you have a dog? Share your dogs age and name with us on Facebook and Twitter. CDS love animals as you can see.
Happy Birthday Kylee Mona’!
