Well, I’m happy to report that all went well during  the 3 day writer’s conference called “Hope Writer’s” held in Weddington, North Carolina.  As many of you know, for 31 days people joined together with the “write31days.com” website to do exactly that.  I chose to write on “10 Things You Can’t Change About Yourself” and just about the time the writing event began here came Hurricane Matthew kicking out our power for almost 8 days and leaving us without internet.  In addition, there was some damage out with the chickens so I was busy cleaning and hauling away debris.    I have managed to recoup some of the day’s writings and hope to finish up soon.

Being a blogger and without running water, lights, and internet can really put a cramp on a person. During that time though, I did try to jot down ideas and as long as my juice on my computer would hold true, write my ideas.

After the storm left, I resumed my writings and then prepared to go to the Hope Writer’s Workshop in North Carolina.  It was a fine event with opportunity to meet with like-minded people of faith.

The event began on Thursday evening, taking in on Friday morning, and Saturday morning.  Myquillyn, “The Nester”, one of the 4 who were hosting the workshop,  invited the group to her home at “The Barn” for a nice party on Friday night.

It was a nice evening with perfect weather for a barn gathering, and bonfire.

Here’s what I learned from this  whole experience:

  1.  When things get in the way, you have to forge on a different way.
  2.  Try to stay the course even when plans get interrupted.
  3.  Realize that even in hard times, good can come out of it.
  4.  Use the time of trouble to gain new insights.
  5.  Make lists to set yourself up for future success after the event.
  6.  When you finally make your way through- celebrate
  7.  In the end, get back to a life of normalcy.
