Apples

Although, I am a BIG time couponer and seem to snag so many deals on applesauce, I truly enjoy to make this myself.  It is super simple and this recipe is sugar-free. Apples already have a natural sweetener, therefore you do not need to add additional sugar. Making this simple recipe will save you tons of calories too.

Today, I am making this batch for my son’s snack pouches. Purchasing apple sauce pouches in the store are between $.70 & $1.50 each. I am going to make several pouches for under $.25 each. Not only will I be saving money but I will know they are fresh without all the extra added sugar. This recipe takes about 30 minutes from start to finish, so give it a try.

Ingredients

4 Large apples (I used gala)
4 cups of water
3 cinnamon sticks

applesboil

Instructions

Peel & chop apples (cutting core out)

  1. Place chopped apples in a large pot; Add water & cinnamon sticks.
  2. Cover pot with stove on medium heat and
  3. Let cook for 20-25 minutes; add water if needed. (cook until soft)
  4.  Add to the blender & blend to a thinner consistency.

It’s now time to enjoy your homemade Applesauce.
