Gray Boy and Lucky Love are so happy to be in their new home. We started them out at the barn. Everything was set up. They had food, water and nice hay for a bed. In the day, the barn door was completely wide and open so that they could run and romp inside or out. At night, the double doors were closed to give them safety and help them feel secure.

Well, it just did not work out! On the 3rd day, I came out and they had figured a way to get out of the barn windows. Both met me on the barn path early that 3rd morning and from then on, they have found themselves licking, cleaning and sprawled out on the back patio chairs or garage couch! So there! Cat’s rule and in this case… “Kittens rule! and people drool!”

So, there is nothing more to do except I still intend on feeding them in the barn but I can tell already that come winter… the warmth in the garage is going to be their safe haven. Oh my! They will really be happy in their new home then!

Things to do to make happy kitties:

1. Set them up with their own space. ( They may choose their own area as time goes by but do what you can to determine their area.)

2. Know that they will eventually gather near the family. Domesticated animals enjoy the human kind so they tend to gravitate near them. Our kittens could hear our voices inside and came to the nearest place to be close to us.

3. For sure, if you don’t want an indoor kitty, do not let them inside. If you do, it will be a serious fight to keep them outside. If you choose outside for them, you must take care of their needs such as food, water, a safe environment and care regarding the weather situation.

4. If you choose inside for your kitty, be sure to provide a litter box and be ready to vacuum a lot to take care of kitty hair. In the fall, they fluff to prepare for winter. In the spring they shed to prepare for the heat.

5. Most important, love your kitty. Whether your pet is an indoor or outdoor kitty, they enjoy being loved, petted, spoken to and cared for. Give them some love folks!

6. For certain, take your pet to the vet for a check up and shots. For your safety and the safety of your animal, this is very important and get ready to think the vet has stolen from you. It’s very expensive. You may not eat for a week yourself to pay for the vet bill so prepare ahead of time. Canned goods in the pantry will be your friend.
