Grand Emotion, Wondering and Wonderment

Keeping the grandson is a pleasure that is really hard to describe. It’s filled with a lot of emotion, wondering and wonderment. There is also an uneasy side to it as well,  in regards to skills. As a parent, you just grab the bull by the horn and run with it but as a grand parent, there is more reticence. Will I know what to do in certain instances? Is he going to follow directions? Will I be fun? When he explores, (and he will), how will I handle the “no, you cannot play with that” and such. Oh, and the love.  When he calls you by name and tells you he loves you. Ugh- pretty great.

It’s a wonderment because of the intricacy of the fabulous brain, behaviors and actions of a child. You get to see it first hand and that view is from the eyes of love. Children come up with so many brilliant things for their age and it is truly amazing to see and experience.

My grandson is so brilliant. Seriously, I’m amazed by his knowledge and understanding of the smallest things and at his age. He knows so much and even the details of the topic.  Then, the emotion of it all is so fine. The attachment, adoration and just gushy- love for this little person who is literally a part of your being is indescribable. It’s all such a wow and a gift from God without question.

Today was a day filled with Playdough, monster trucks, the money machine, counting coins, watching “Paw Patrol” on You Tube and finally playing in the water. I must say, the favorite part of the day was watching Paw Patrol together and playing in the water. Ramey is 3 1/2 and totally enjoys getting wet, pouring water from one container to another, spraying a water bottle and today, getting under an umbrella as the hose rained water down.

As a chicken keeper, we often use umbrellas over the top of the runs to protect the chicken food. I had laid out 2 new umbrellas to take to the coops. Ramey picked one up and from there we went to spraying the top of the umbrella to pouring water out of the spray bottle to finally just getting the hose and creating a rain storm atop the umbrella. It was great fun. We played with the water without actually getting wet for a good 45 minutes and in the end he said, “Hey, Gramma, it’s really not raining”.

Pleasure. Pleasure. Pleasure

Proverbs 17:6 – Children’s children [are] the crown of old men; and the glory of children [are] their fathers.

Psalms 128:6 – Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, [and] peace upon Israel.

Proverbs 13:22 – A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner [is] laid up for the just.

Deuteronomy 4:9 – Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;

Isaiah 59:21 – As for me, this [is] my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that [is] upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
