Today, we enjoyed St. Augustine, the Nation’s oldest city. It is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement and port in the continental United States. It is also the city Daniel Boy and I were married a few years back.

The main reason for our visit to this lovely town was that it celebrated the fifth day in my sisters birthday.
Choosing St. Augustine was a no brainer. It’s is about a 40 minute drive south east which is perfect for a day trip. St. Augustine is a cute urban area with tons of tourist atrractions. It is right along the bay, so you get the traditional Florida views of palm trees, shotgun houses and cobble stone roads. Even though I live close, I have yet to see and know all its history. Therefore it is my duty to explore this place often and we do!
On this day, we spent our day wandering the residential streets by carriage, shopping on St. George Street, strolling through the shops, stopping at the Hickory Ridge Organics fresh organic, Bath Junkie and eating a delicious lunch at The Columbia House. We had a wonderful day even with the overcast, wet, windy weather we were given.
This elegant city with its high-class hotels, a majority built by the famous railroad magnate Henry Flagler, can get pricy but many captivating historic attractions are essentially free. It is a lovely city and one you must see and experience with your own eyes. Maybe we will have lunch together one of these days. In the meantime get busy planning your trip and be sure to let me know you’re headed this way. I can be there in less than an hour!
