I have those mixed feeling regarding daylight savings time (fall back in the fall!). You may have reservations too. I’m always super stoked about that extra hour of sleep but dread it getting dark so quickly. Don’t you feel like it’s midnight at 8pm? It has always been a challenge adjusting to it but the real adjustment came when I had a baby.
Trying to “shift the bedtime in 15 minute increments” turned out to be a lot of unnecessary fussiness. So, I found a solution that was simple and easy.
The answer was in leaving my son’s bedtime the same. Now goes to bed at 6:30 pm instead of 7:30 pm. I left his entire daily routine as is. Of course, the first few mornings we were up at 5am (yawn) but that slowly moved to his normal break-of-dawn morning schedule. By me not changing his schedule, it also kept nap times, lunch and so on a breeze an on schedule. It even gave DanielBabe and me a little extra quiet time together. When the time changes again, it will be “easy breezy” without a shift in the schedule once again.
Making life a little more simple by working smarter not harder!
