Oxford dictionaries defines a whisperer as:
“a person skilled in taming or training a specified kind of animal, typically using body language and gentle vocal encouragement rather than physical contact”
So the question is, “Do you have that kind of skill in regards to chickens?”
So, after reading that- “Are you a chicken whisperer?” If so, you have the feeling that there is just something about yard birds and the life of a chicken farmer that somehow mesmerizes you. If you’re a real chicken whisperer, you truly love these birds. You have the ability to overlook the day-to-day hardships of clean-up, messy runs, dirty water, a possible bully rooster and fussy hens. The very atmosphere of a chicken yard comes to life in a positive sense to a person who really and seriously enjoys chickens.
That would be us. Our family loves poultry. We work in an effort to make them happy and when they do that “chicken wobble” in coming towards us, it just thrills us to the core. Our bird sense kicks in and we begin talking with a high pitched voice to the bird that so lovingly runs towards us. We love our flock.
Chicken whisperers have the ability to woo a yard bird, make the hen happy and the rooster proud. That’s what happens in the barnyard of a chicken whisperer.
If this is you…buy another chicken, harvest the eggs you have, stay the course and barter for those new breeds that you haven’t yet tried and don’t worry. Be bird happy while breathing a breath of thankfulness for the opportunities before you.
