Day 6 -(Writing 31 Days Project) -Mothers never stop raising their children. I’ve seen that as a parent. While I try to stay out of “it” and very often purse my lips, many times I just can’t help myself and I have to just say something that I think about a subject in their lives.
Oh, I know they are grown people, but I simply cannot just let it go and honestly I try. I do! But sometimes I just blurt out my true feelings about this or that. This or that could be anything from what is being worn to an attitude or even something that was said or even not said. Oh my. I just blurt.
Both of my girls react. Sometimes the reaction might be with a laugh. Sometimes it may bring about a comment of agreement or in some cases, disagreement. Other times they may remain silent and quite often I get that “glare” like “really Mom!” I like the glare. Ha!
One thing for sure and I mean for sure. I love those girls and there are no words that I would say that would intentionally be harmful to them because I am for them. Caring for their wellbeing is something inside of me and so forward it is to ensure their complete success. Blurt.
Sometime ago, I just have to open my big mouth about something. The whole purpose of this comment is to bring about thought, or a new way of thinking or to bring to one’s attention an important point for consideration. It was not and never is and I do mean never, to slam, diss, chide, shame or hurt my child. My whole purpose was to lead her to a way of thinking to bring about success and that day she encapsulated the true vision every mother wants to hear. “Mama, you are the voice in my head”.
I couldn’t have been happier. My voice in her head. With that, I knew that my job was continuing on, on a daily basis confirming that I’m still in the business of mothering even when I’m not around.
Mothers never stop raising their children.
