There are some lessons in life that one learns which allows each person to simply move forward. Having a clear conscience is of great importance in life.
When milks get spilled, all you can do it wipe it up and it still makes a big mess. The old adage ” Don’t cry over spilled milk ” has some truth to it. Once it’s spilled, it’s out and there is little to be done. You can’t get it back into the bottle. You can’t save all of it. You cannot change what has happened so…. clean it up as best you can and move forward.
So it is in your life situations. Sometimes situations lend themselves to be be ones in which you cannot go back and fix it.. You just have to make amends the best you can, say you’re sorry and move on.
Here are 5 suggestions for moving forward if you have a “spilled milk situation” from the past.
1. Acknowledge the wrong. Go first to God and apologize and get right with Him.
2. Go to the offended person or call them. Do NOT put things in writing. Simply call or visit the person. Apologize for your part in the occurence. Do NOT get into the details and if the person throws up issues to you, it will be important to focus and simply get off of your heart and heaviness your participation. Focus on your apology without allowing any negativity to take hold. Say something like. “I’ve asked God to forgive me for saying ugly things to you the other day. He has forgiven me and I’m asking you to also.” Make it short and sweet and then do not hang around. Settle the account and go.
3. Expect possible negativity. Especially if you were wrong. Just because one person wants to apologize does not mean all parties are ready. Some people take more time than others. Expect to get possible resistance but know that your focus is to apologize and get your own self clear of wrong doing so focus solely on that.
4. If the person will not hear you, dust your feet and go your way. Avoid details. Avoid ugly talk. Avoid confrontation. Simply try to apologize and pray that it works for the good of all involved.
5. After getting this situation resolved, vow to improve in communication skills and begin to work in that effort for the future. No one is perfect and everyone at one time or another has spilled the milk
Live at peace-
