The Holy Scripture is clear that we should “praise Him” for “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. God’s Word also says that we are His “workmanship” and that we cannot add to our height” therefore we should be satisfied in how we were made by Him.
I imagine that we have all had times in our lives that we would like to be someone else or have what another has or be prettier, taller, shorter, thinner and the list goes on. But God has a plan for us- as we are, and we should without question go toward the mark of the high calling.
Here are 5 evidences that you may be rejecting God’s best for you:
1. Criticism of Yourself– Maybe you have a large nose, or you’re broad-shouldered or in your mind, too short or too tall. God created you as you are. If you have some “unchangeable” then you were given that feature for a reason.
Instead of criticizing this feature, you must embrace it and use it as God intended. I have a friend who went on the mission field. She has fiery red hair. It has been that very red hair who has brought many people into the village to “see her red hair” and thus hear the Gospel of Christ. You have some unchangeable feature that God can use on the mission field. Use it dear friend.
2. Extreme Shyness- Shyness is often caused by what others may think. We cannot worry about what others may think. We must, instead think of how we can impact others. Do not allow your shyness to supercede what God could do in and through you.
Instead of going into a room thinking “What will they do or say?” Think- “Who can I impact today for Christ?”
3. Not Trusting God’s Best- God has a plan and purpose for each of us. He will use and cause that plan to go forth in our lives as we put our trust in him. When we depend on the “world” to design our steps, we lose out on God’s best.
Instead of trusting in the things of this world. Trust God. Talk to him, and then act on His truths.
4. Unloving Attitudes Toward Others– Our job is to “love others as ourselves” and don’t we love ourselves! If we can’t really love others as we love ourselves, what good are we? The scripture says “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”. Matthew 19:19.
Instead of discounting yourself, look in the mirror and embrace who you are. Be proud of who you are and allow God to live in and through you.
5. Too Much or Not Enough Attention on Our Appearance– We all should want to look nice but in fact, some of us don’t spend enough time on our appearance and some of us over-do it trying to be something we are not. God expects us to be who He designed us to be.
Instead of not caring or over-doing our appearance, be who you are.
