Ah, fall! I love everything about this season. From the changing of the leaves to the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks. I get so excited slipping on my boots and sweaters. Oh, how I love dressing my little one, Ramey (he’s just so cute in hoodies and hats).  Since becoming a mom, my favorite seasons are fall and winter. The kids make things so much fun, don’t they?

Trying to find my families fall tradition, we located the Sykes and Cooper Farm. It’s located in Elton, Florida about 15 miles south of Jacksonville. This is a wonderful place for all ages and can even accomodate large groups. The 9 acres of cornfusion has been providing fun for folks since 2010.

Sykes and Cooper Farm has free parking. Discounts entry fees are available to senior, military, and children under two are free. The nine-acre Corn Maze is remarkable and such a wonderful experience to navigate with family and friends. The farm offers several other activities like hayrides, tube slides, duck races, cow milking, pumpkin painting, and a close up of the farm animals. One of my favorite areas was the Country Store. Danielboy bought me the cutest fall hair bow.

Here are a few tips for visiting the farm:

  • Bug spray – Mosquitoes love my little one so I always have some on hand but if you don’t make sure to grab some. Depending on the weather and wind will determine if you will need it
  • Picnic – The farm has a covered pavilion area and you’re welcome to use it. Located next to the kids slide and corn pit, it makes for a great place to relax and watch the little ones play. There is also a large grassy area perfect for a picnic. Feel free to bring a blanket, drinks and sandwiches to cut cost but make sure to clean your mess before leaving. There are also picnic tables.
  • Cash – The farm is cash only. They do have a ATM on site but remember those portable ATM have large fees. Be sure to stop by your bank prior hopping on the highway.

In Florida, we may not be able to experience the vibrant colors of the fall leaves or wool and sweaters but we do not need to forego the fall entertainment Florida has to offer. This year when you think of fall and plan your weekends make sure to include Sykes and Cooper Farm. If you are not in Florida, look for farms that have fall festivals or things such as a corn maze in your area.
