Straddle The Puddle – Don’t Splash It!

pothole

Living on a dirt road gives one yet another set of skills to master. How to come down a wet dirt road without splashing the puddle? Right out of the gate, a dirt road liver learns early to straddle the puddle. Never splash the water!

A lot of people don’t realize that speeding through a puddle splashes the water pushing the dirt that is in that hole out and creating an even bigger hole. Pot holes are created by the absence of dirt in the once filled hole!

So, the important thing when riding down a wet and puddly dirt road is to go very slow and most importantly, straddle the puddles. Don’t run through them.

Running through them quickly will bring about a muddy mess and create what we love to call “pot holes” and no one who lives on a dirt road wants pot holes! Pot holes are those things that when the tires go down, down, down into them, they make the auto wobble and you feel as if you need motion sickness meds!

So, to avoid creating holes in your road, pot holes on your drive and incidents that cause your money to be spent unwisely, go slowly when coming down the dirt road and certainly, straddle the water pockets. Never drive through them! But if you must, c r e e p along so as to keep the road intact.

Yes, I live on a dirt road! And yes, there are pot holes. And no, I do not think I’m the guilty party!
