Living for Christ After Easter Has Long Passed

With the rise of social media, it is obvious that many claim the name of Jesus. Post after post on Facebook, Instagram and other social sites, there were crosses, and scriptures announcing the miraculous fact that Jesus was raised from the dead and alive in the hearts of man. It was encouraging to see the many people who name the name of Christ and were willing to place on their wall, “He is risen” images and words of scripture honoring Jesus, Lord of all.

It made me wonder though how many of us really meant our posts. Do we really believe and know in our hearts that Jesus has power to save, power to change our lives, and power to really change the world? And, will we live out our claim such that others can see and know this by our actions?

Will we really live out the fact that Jesus is all powerful in our lives. Will we put aside our political bias’ and really live out the Bible’s truths? Are we going to be able to see the Holy Scripture as The Word of God in such a way that we are able to even put aside any ideology that does not honor Him.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

That is a question for each of us.

Will we curse? Will we tell off color jokes? Will we watch inappropriate things on television? Will we read less than seemly literature? Will it be named among us that we engage in things we ought not engage?

The great Peter, who was in the presence of the greatest man who ever lived was told by the Savior, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Matthew 26:34. Our very nature is that of weakness but God knows our heart. We worry about what others think. We care about worldly things. We get all wrapped in ourselves.

But, did our experience on Easter Sunday bring us back to the sobering reality that Jesus is truly Lord of all and we must come to Him as a little child in obedience.

“Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love. ” Ephesians 1:4

Encouragement to all who posted that Jesus is risen on their social media site. May each of us live out the words of  the Holy Scripture as told in this old hymn.

Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
Didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
O Christ, for Thee alone.

Living for Jesus who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.

Living for Jesus wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
