When you travel, do you look for those hard-to-find gems?  Do you seek out the rare and unusual or odd locations in a city? Our city of Jacksonville, Florida has one of those places – created by my Mom.  For real…

When going places with my sister, I’ve found her to venture out, so we tend to find new and different places every week that we go.   I must say it is fun to find unique spots. One location we love to visit is Austin, Texas. It is a bit crowded, but so many eclectic art pieces and weird stuff. One of Austin’s logos is “Keep Austin Weird”. When visiting two Christmas’ ago my mother came along. Taking her to the wacky, weird city was so much fun. We plundered in and out of various spots.

Austin has so much delicious food, live music, go-green places, culture, art and spirit. It is a must-see location for visiting! I insist that you go! We told mom about the “Greeting from Austin” wall and showed her pictures but there is nothing like seeing it in person. The day after arriving she was itching to take a peek and  so we did.

Returning home mother pondered on a “Jacksonville Wall”. She was a school teacher for 36 years so large board art was in her blood. You might already know but Josie owns a little collectibles store on the north west side of Jacksonville. In no time (2 months or so) my mama drew our town it’s own Jacksonville wall similar to the Austin wall.  (#JaxWall.)
