We all have some kind of trauma in our lives from time to time.  You’re not alone!

At Easter, the new grand baby received baby chicks and when they were 6 months old, they were given to “Grandma Josie”(me).   Paw Paw built a pen for them and everything was settled until a huge dog came through the yard one day when no one was home.  I could not talk or write about the event. It was so devastating to me.

In time, a new rooster was taken in and then 3 new hens to add to what was left from the horror on that lone day in the yard.  The pen was renewed and revamped including a covering and a sliding door over the hen house but since that time there have been no eggs; not even one!

I had some “Eggland’s Best” eggs with a stamped “E” on them and I put them out there one day thinking I’d encourage the hens.   That weekend, I had my son-in-love feed the chicks and he discovered eggs!  It was a huge day of excitement until when he got a closer look at them he saw the “E”. He knew then they had to be store bought.  Now that was disappointing. ( But funny!) LOL!

Well, I have good news.  On Christmas day, the mother and dad of my grandson gave me rain boots with chickens all over them and today, only 2 days after Christmas, there was an egg in the pen!  I do not know who laid the egg.  Was it Elsa?  Olivia? Juliette?  or Queeny?  It certainly was not Buster!

Trauma happens in our lives and we just have to do the best we can with our situation.  In time, things settle down and we begin to get back to normal.

It looks as if normalcy is beginning to happen around here!  The chicks liked the boots too by the way!
