Blabber Mouth

Okay, I’m a blabber mouth. When I do things, I like to tell about it. It’s a story and I love stories. I love to hear them and telling them makes it all worth while. Truly, it isn’t about bragging because I know I am wretched but telling things brings about engagement, participation, laughter and fun. And, often the story must be told in order to get others involved in a project to help people in need. When collecting clothes for kids for the fall, a story had to be told. When we collected book bags for back to school children, a story had to be told. When paintings were sold, the story had to be shared in order to get buyers to donate money to buy teeth for someone. But, in fact, once the story has been told, the reward in heaven is not available.

The Bible says that when we do good deeds and tell about them, we “have our reward” so when thinking about that, it is obvious that rewards in heaven will be the quiet ones and of stories untold or even not known about except for by the parties affected.

There are those in our world that one day will have a treasure trove of rewards in heaven. They are those who have done things behind the scenes quickly, quietly and often and never having told a soul about their gifting. It could have been gifting of using their talents or money, time or efforts. It could have been those who shared the Gospel of Christ to someone they didn’t even know. It could be one who gave money which affected people thousands and thousands of miles across the sea- all for eternities sake, not for the reward or accolade here on this earth.

These are truly saints! They are honestly people who will have crowns and crowns in heaven.

I know people who have done things for others and never said a word so I have experienced these people who live out Christ and never speak a word about their giving. They are certainly not blabber mouths! This is something I’m going to work on.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”
