Are You Just Stupid?

In recent months, many ridiculous things have been done in and to the lives of various people on television.  For the most part, I don’t follow these people and when I hear the downfall of their lives on the evening news, I don’t even recognize the person’s face nor have I even heard their names but I know their story.  Their stories are like anyone who does not follow the precepts of God. I know these stories because I myself am a sinner and have experienced downfall. I know I need God’s truth in my own life. So, I know their story.  I thought I could do it without God too. I’ve been there. It is the same ole’ story of a life without the Almighty.

This is going to sound down right rude but I just have to say it. “ Are you stupid?” Has anyone ever said that to you? Well, I’ve had it said to me. The real question behind it is.. “ Are you continuing to do the same things and expecting a different results?”

I mean, really, folks! We can’t keep doing the same thing that brings us pain, discontentment, sorrow or misery and yet keep on doing it and expecting something different to come from it!

That is the definition of stupid! We can’t keep on living a life of debauchery, silliness, wildness, out-of-order and then expect the fruit of it to be good fruit. It just is NOT going to happen.  The Bible is clear about our Creator who made us.  He will not be mocked. In other words, He, who made us will not allow us to act the fool, keep a good name and produce good from from evil ways.  He will not have it.  Many times, as we live our lives, we see those on television and in movies apparently ” living the life”.  It appears as if they are doing all of these unseemly things and being rewarded financially, publicly, and in their lives, but keep on watching because at some point, as they say, “the chickens come home to roost”.  They will get what is coming to them.  Good fruit will not come as a result of bad behavior. On the contrary.   Ultimately and at some juncture, our foolishness will be brought forth.  Remembering the scripture that “sin is but for a season”, we know that at some point, “our sin will find us out” and we will be held accountable.

This is important to note:  We could lose everything financially. Our families could suffer loss.  Our health could break down.  We could end up miserable and with people who bring about heartache.  We could end up being left alone and undone. Our loss could be one that we could never regain even the good that we had.  Our real lives are in the balance teeter-tottering and only God, the One who created us can make the difference! He is our only hope.
So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. “Every tree that does not bear good fruit it is cut down and thrown into the fire.…   God’s Word, the Bible is clear about this. He expects good fruit from our growth and when it is not good, it is cut off and placed in the fire to burn.
So, are you stupid? I have been, many times over the course of this lifetime but indeed, I continue to focus on God’s plan for me and I constantly remind myself that my life is not my own. I am His child and I must do what He wants for my life. In doing that, I will not be stupid but will otherwise, do His will and make a huge difference in my life and in the lives of those around me.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4

•Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3

•Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?  Matthew 6:25

•And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself: 1 Kings 2:3

•And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

•So, Matthew 7:18 clears the field of thinking for us and that is this: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

If we want good fruit of our lives, we must be good. If we are bad, we cannot produce good fruit. If we want to be good, we must have God in our lives because God is good.

Trust God today .  “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5

I hope you are keeping yourself in check. I am.  The scripture teaches that if we keep watch over ourselves, God will not need to chasen us.    I want fruit in my life that will produce good and that will grow and mature. I do not want bad fruit that will be cut down and thrown into the fire never to be tasted by myself or any of my children and children’s children.

I seek to walk in His ways and not my own.  So, NO, I’m not stupid anymore!  How about you?
