A Peaceful Pause In Our Hectic Day; Learning How To Pray

Have you ever wondered how to pray? I mean really talk with God. So many times, I see on social media “praying for you” or “God bless you”. Do you ever wondered if those people posting that are REALLY asking God for help in your favor?  It is a question that crosses my mind a lot.

Growing up in the church, I have heard a many prayers. Some long and lengthy but others short and sweet. But, have you ever heard a prayer you could feel in your soul? You know, that prayer where you thought Jesus himself might just speak to you out-loud so others could hear. Yes, that’s the kind of praying I want to do. You would think, I’d have the praying business mastered after all the things I’ve asked for and all of the  prayers I’ve committed to  forgiveness.

What I’ve come  to understand is that praying is truly about our relationship with God. The words of our prayers are in our hearts and come from our faith as we understand the Bible. Clearly, if you do not read the Bible how are you to know how to pray?  I’m learning this truth.

Always having a King James version of the Bible, I get lost in all the thy, thee, thou and such. I find myself wondering what God is trying to say. The Bible often seem confusing to me but that is only because I must study it to understand it – like anything else. (“Study to show thyself approved”, God’s Word says.)

One wonderful tool I have found in this modern world is the Bible app. This app can be dowloaded for free on any smart phone. The Bible app is on my phone and has become incredible handy to listening to God’s word in my free time.  I just love it and I so better understand what I’m hearing.

Listening to the Bible has definitely helped me with the understanding of His Word. It has also shown given me more of an understanding of powerful pray wording. I now understand that praying will strengthen my spiritual life. Praying not only in troubled times but in peaceful ones too as I speak to God daily. It is a life-long journey. This app has opened up a whole new world for me. I encourage you to download the Bible app and listen each day. Pray for your life and the people around you. Ask the Lord for the things you need and listen to Him speak to you. It won’t be audible but He will communicate in your heart as you listen to His Word, the Bible.

The next time you see a social media post and that needs prayer – talk with God and write “prayed”. Those needing the prayer will appreciate and God will have done all of the work.
