8 Reasons Not To Be Depressed

Depression is something a lot of people find troubling. There is some mind play that occurs that brings on an apparent heaviness that many people find hard to shake. It’s such a huge thing that they cannot just “Shake it Off” as Taylor Swift so aptly sings and find themselves embedded in worry and anguish. Depression can be a serious medical condition that affects many people day-to-day.

Medication is often used to help those who struggle with this imbalance . We read that counseling, talking with others, spending time with loved ones and therapy can help with feelings of anxiety and worry. Experts indicate that depression is different for different people but feelings of hopelessness is often a constant to those feeling depressed.

I was just thinking of our readers out there and wondering if any of the above things apply to you and while I’m no counselor and I cannot get into your head, but instead wish to share with your heart. The Bible says that we are to guard the heart at all cost so I want to encourage you today with truths that cannot be denied.

1. There is a God and He loves you.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. I Peter 5:6-7

2. God sent Jesus who came to give abundant life.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37

3. If you have trusted Christ as Savior and Lord, He sees you as righteous and pure. If you have not trusted Christ, trust Him today.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

4. We have all done things for which we are not proud. There is a remedy for this problem. We have all sinned. We have all done wrong. ALL of us. The remedy of our sin is to give all of your cares to Jesus. He loves. He forgives. He forgets as far as the east is to the west. He is our hope of glory.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

5. There is nothing in your past that cannot be forgiven.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17

6. You should not live in the past but in the present.
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1

7. There are those in your circle of influence that want and need you.
O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey. “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.Deuteronomy 6:4

8. You were put here at this time, in your place for a purpose unto God.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

I have heard from friends that often with depression even time with loved ones is not enough so I encourage you dear one that time with God can indeed make the difference. YOU matter to God and He has a plan for your life. I’m praying for you that God will have His way with your life and you’ll grasp onto the abundant life Jesus offers. I wish you the very best.

You matter-
