A tenth wedding anniversary is a huge milestone that should be celebrated. Tradition says give gifts of tin & aluminum, aka: diamond jewelry. I personally think this gift idea is perfect. Any marriage lasting a decade, deserves something just as durable and beautiful.

Yes, the honeymoon might be long gone but I am sure he’s loved now more than ever but with 10 years of growth could there be room to refresh the relationship? It’s time to get those feelings out on display.  Have you had a kid or a few?  ‘ Gained a little weight? Oh, get over it! You two are still together so make it count.

A month back I received an invite to our dear friends’ tenth wedding anniversary party. We RSVP immediately with such excitement. The event was even themed, “Putting On The Ritz”.  This was to be a night out with my honey and it sounded like such fun. Finally, the night came and we dressed to the nine’s and headed out. Never having attended a wedding anniversary party,  we were unsure what to expect. We took a card with a small gesture of our love as you would at a wedding.

The event was very intimate, with close friends and family invited. It truly made everyone feel honored to be apart of such a special celebration. Decorations were simple but elegant throughout the room. It was open seating which allowed people to feel comfortable in selecting a place to enjoy the evening. With an appealing buffet, it was filled with tasteful delights. The cake was lovely with a shinny love topper. What a fabulous way to capture such a magnificent milestone in their lives.

Antonio and Nita’s loves is one to follow and gain learning. They are proud parents of 4 wonderful children. Celebrating ten years together is just a stepping stone towards their future.  Cheers to the two for the wonderful memories and so many more to come.

Here are just a few tips to spice up your relationship no matter how many kids, bills or changes have happened. Bring back that newlywed bliss for good.

  1. Make a time capsule: Put a box together highlighting where you are in your marriage and family-life at the moment. Enclose pictures, art, list of “hot” things at the current time, and notes to your future self.
  2. Honeymoon celebration: Take a kid-free weekend getaway.
  3. Anniversary Party: Invite friends and family members to share your love with you.(Just like Antonio and Nita).
  4. Go back in time: Forget the movies and do what you both used to enjoy doing together before the kids: hit a concerts, bag pack or take a hiking trip, do a day trip out of town, go offshore fishing, make a date at the kart track,  play board games, etc.
  5.  Say Yes: Change the way you respond to things. Start with saying yes and trying a few new things. Be more open minded and a little less reluctant. Trust your spouse as you did in the beginning.

Keep those love lights burning!
